LOVE OF CHRIST

THE LOVE OF GOD

God is faithful and true

The work He started and continues

When you gave your heart to Jesus

Won't stop until He's through

Through the heartaches of your life

And the heartbreaks of fleeting time

He's shaping you to make you His

Through dark and lonely valleys

And intimidating mountain heights

His grace has carried you unto Himself

Despite the hardness of your human heart

Through the ups and downs of life as it is

Unto the very moment you felt His touch

God shaped your heart and made you His

A perfect expression of His love

TREASURE

"This is life eternal that they might know Thee."

NOW
Take your focus off the past
Refuse to worry for the future
Each and every day you live
Awake in search of treasure
Seek love, peace and mercy
Until your heart overflows
Rest in Jesus and know
Eternal life is Now

THE LIFE THAT LIVES

Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.  Luke 24:49
The disciples had to tarry until the day of Pentecost not for their own preparation only; they had to wait until the Lord was glorified historically. As soon as He was glorified, what happened? "Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, He hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear." The parenthesis in John 7:39 ("For the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified") does not apply to us; the Holy Ghost has been given, the Lord is glorified; the waiting depends not on God's providence, but on our fitness.

The Holy Spirit's influence and power were at work before Pentecost, but He was not here. Immediately Our Lord was glorified in Ascension, the Holy Spirit came into this world, and He has been here ever since. We have to receive the revelation that He is here. The reception of the Holy Spirit is the maintained attitude of a believer. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we receive quickening life from the ascended Lord.

It is not the baptism of the Holy Ghost which changes men, but the power of the ascended Christ coming into men's lives by the Holy Ghost that changes them. We too often divorce what the New Testament never divorces. The baptism of the Holy Ghost is not an experience
apart from Jesus Christ: it is the evidence of the ascended Christ.

The baptism of the Holy Ghost does not make you think of Time or Eternity, it is one amazing glorious NOW. "This is life eternal that they might know Thee." Begin to know Him now, and finish never.

MASTERPIECE

After reading today's Daily Word I recalled a sentence I wrote the other day and thought the whole thing might fit pretty well; also found a fun video to sort of tie it together and something from Max Lucado for clarification. Please say a prayer for my dog Sophie who is going under anethesia tomorrow for TPLO surgery (again!). Of course, she's a dog and I'm more concerned than she is so please pray for me too, and especially the surgeon; his name is Jorge Chavarria. Thank you.  Enjoy! Jeff

My problem is pride, I won't let go. Taught from youth not to let go of the string lest the kite be lost forever - we hold on tight with all our might to our thin string of identity - the thing we think makes us who we are - and for that matter, who we think God wants us to be!

Then the Lord of all creation, the Maker of heaven and earth, comes along and tells us our lives - our hearts - are His to make, His to break, and His to remake for His particular glory and pleasure - however He pleases - and even goes so far as to proclaim for all who would truly follow Him that true life is found only as you lose your self-life of worldly pursuit - and seek after Him and Him alone. Honestly, it hurts just to write that; in fact it cuts a little deeper everytime I do.

But remember - He is God!  He is perfect!  He does the making - He does the breaking - He does the remaking of unholy lives using His expertise - His specifications - into what the Bible calls "masterpieces" - vessals of honor and righteousness that will eventually hold and reflect the perfect love of His wondrous Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

My problem is pride, I don't want to let go - ah, but God's love for me is stronger than I am.

In the message "God's Plumb Line" we were encouraged to build our lives upon the absolute and unwavering standard of God's Word. His Word is truth and holds the answer to every problem we will ever confront. If we search for answers and prayerfully reflect on the truth of God's Word - if we indeed consider His Word as absolute and unchanging, and apply it directly into our life - we will find the solutions have been available long before we were born.
Hebrews 4:12-13
"For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."
Without changing in content or meaning, the Word of God adapts to every situation. If we maintain the habit of reading and reflective study, we will find new insights in what appear to be the peeling back of multiple layers of understanding. But it is actually us who are being peeled back and laid bare by the ever present truths of His Word.
The passage, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5), will have a much different meaning after we've obediently followed God for several years. Each time adversity strikes and doubts arise, we will find an ever deeper calling in the phrase "with ALL your heart." And though we walk with Him for all the rest of our days, we may never fully appreciate the words; "God demonstrated His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). How our lives would change if we could ever fully understand His love!
We do not truly "dig deeper" into the Word; rather, the Word digs deeper into us! Scriptural truths are not revealed until our hunger is so great that we are willing to place our life on the table and allow the sword of truth to cut deep inside. Do we really desire to know God, His Word, and His Spirit? Do we really want to understand the depth of God's love and the implications of His justice? Then be advised: even necessary and beneficial surgery can be painful. When our chest is opened, the condition of our heart is revealed; and that which is dark and displeasing must be cut away and burned.
But fear not! Our Heavenly Father is a skilled surgeon who can make our heart new and prepared to yield to His Spirit. The solution to our most complex problems is always found in His presence, and He has given His Word to show us how to draw near. Our lives are in need of some divine surgery today! Let's allow our heart to be cut by the truth, to be exposed and purified by the Living Word.
Have a Christ Centered Day!

A NEW DAY

The Bible teaches that we are to live by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
By faith, we hold on. By faith, we look forward. By faith, we grow up. By faith,
we press on. By faith, we let go.
Jesus said in John 20:29, "Blessed are those
who have not seen and yet have believed."  In case you're interested, that link up
there is an exellent treatise on living by faith by K. P. Yohanan.   Enjoy the day, JP

NEW DAY

Today is a new day,
Yes - yesterday is gone;
Live in the wonderful grace,
Of Jesus Christ - God's Son.

Today is a new day,
The past has passed away;
Trust the Lord with all your heart,
Let go of your grief and pain.

Today is a new day,
Embrace faith, hope and love;
As long as you are breathing,
Surrender your heart to Jesus.

Today is a new day,
Peace and Strength are in the Lord;
Let courage be the captain of your heart
As you search His Word and discover
Who it is you're living for.

A New Beginning
by Charles R. Swindoll

Regardless of what you have done, no one is beyond hope. That's the great hope of
the Christian message. No amount or depth of sin in your past can trump the grace of
God. If you question that, remember Saul, the brash Pharisee of Tarsus. When the
Lord saved him, He didn't put him on probation. The other disciples did that. No,
God gave Saul a new name and, in the process, made him a new creation. That's what
makes grace so amazing! Even though your past is soiled, anyone can find a new
beginning with God. I've made the same statement throughout my ministry: It's never
too late to start doing what is right. When Saul knelt before the living God, he finally
faced the reality of his sin. Deep within the man, Christ transformed his life, and he
started doing what was right. Grace provides that sort of new beginning. Don't get
stuck on where you were. Don't waste your time focusing on what you used to be.
Remember, the hope we have in Christ means there's a brighter tomorrow. Sins are
forgiven. Shame is cancelled out. We're no longer chained to a deep, dark pit of the
past. Grace gives us wings to soar beyond it. Could it be that you are stuck because
of something from your past? Perhaps it has pinned you to the ground with embar-
assment, shame, and fear. You're crippled by it. The best you can do is to limp
through each day, hoping for a painless end. That way of thinking is from the enemy,
Satan. He loves to push your nose in the dirt, hoping to make you miss the marvelous
claims of grace. Don't allow him that power in your life today. Around you are people
who have no greater claim on grace than you do, and the Lord mercifully brought
them out of their pit of sin. If He could turn a Saul of Tarsus, who was engaged
in a murderous rampage, into a Paul the apostle, who preached and lived
the message of grace, He can change your life too.
