CHRISTMAS LOVE

On the very first Christmas
God sent to the world His Son
And kept the prophet's promise
A mighty Savior would come

On that cold and starry night
A Cry of life would pierce the dark
And fill the earth with Heaven's Light
Who seeks to save the darkest heart

On the first Christmas morn
Some two-thousand years ago
Eternity's Master Planner was born
So all who will beieve would know

God gave His Son to live and die
Hope of everlasting peace was given
Though the world would rather forget His Time
Christmas Love is forever (alive and well) in Heaven

God's Poem / His Work of Art

God's Poem

The promise, the pain,
The problem of pride;
The patience, The providence,
The struggle with I. The sin,
The salvation, The confession
of wrong; The humanity, The
forgiveness, The humility of
song. The discipline, the grace,
The admission of weakness;
The surrender, The slavery,
The freedom of holiness.
The church, the fellowship,
The submission to power;
The price, The perfection,
The beauty of a flower.

His Work of Art

Do you ever wake up and wonder if you are where God wants you? Do you ever wonder if you are really following God's plan for your life? These are normal questions and ought to be asked by every true believer in Jesus Christ. We should desire to follow His plan; and the only way to know is to ask, listen for direction, and obediently follow.

The most important part of God's plan is that we trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of sin; "He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). God wants us all to repent, turn to Jesus, and receive His gift of Salvation. He wants us to step from eternal death to eternal life through faith in His one and only Son!

But many people receive His gift and then continue life with no real change, no new direction. This should not be! When we receive God's gift of Salvation, something wonderful occurs; "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17). When we place our life in His hands, He wipes away the ugliness of our sin and begins to grow and mature us into the likeness of His Son (Romans 8:29). This process of maturing growth IS His plan!

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

When we become a new creation in Christ, we become God's workmanship. The Greek word for workmanship is "poiema" - it's where we get the word poem. And though it might be difficult to think of our life as a poem, the idea being presented is that God is creating something beautiful, something almost poetic which touches His heart.

It might be easier to switch analogies and think of God as the Master Painter. When we give Him our life, we hand Him our old canvas covered with the grotesque ugliness of sin. But by grace, the canvas is wiped clean, and the Artist begins to paint a work of art with Jesus as the model. Every stroke of His brush is to make our canvas look more and more like Christ.

Are we where God wants us? Are we following His plan? To help find the answer we should ask: Is the likeness of Christ beginning to form, or is my canvas still filled with ugliness and confusion? Am I allowing Him to paint, or am I trying to take the brush at every opportunity?

God really is the Master Painter, and He really does know what He is doing. If we will allow Him to finish His work, the end result will be better than anything we can imagine!! Let's give Him our canvas and allow Him to paint. Let's follow His plan and allow our life to become His work of art.

Have a Christ Centered Day!

endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame,
and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

  Focused On Jesus
Let's commit to trusting and keeping our eyes focused on Jesus.

I've always been impulsive. I was one of the first to follow Jesus. I didn't even know who He was, but when He said "Come, follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Matthew 4:19), though I didn't know what He meant, I dropped my fishing nets and followed. After three years, I foolishly told Jesus I was "ready to go with You to prison and to death" (Luke 22:33), but that same night I denied I even knew Him...three times! And in the garden, when the soldiers came to take Him away, I drew my sword "and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear" (John 18:10).

But the most impulsive thing I ever did was that night in the boat. The waves were rough and we had "rowed three or three and a half miles" (John 6:19), when I saw Jesus walking on the water. I told Him I would come if He called, and the next thing I knew I was jumping out of the boat! And I didn't sink!! I just kept my eyes on Jesus. I knew in my heart He was "the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16), but the wind was blowing so hard and the waves kept crashing against my legs.

Matthew 14:30
"But when he {Peter} saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!'"

Jesus said Peter began to sink because he doubted and had little faith (Matthew 14:31). But let's not be too hard on Peter - remember, no one else even left the boat! Peter stepped out of the boat and took several steps on top of the water!! But then he lost his focus.

Peter was in the middle of an awesome display of God's power, and yet he "saw the wind," or at least the effects of the wind. Peter began to look at the turbulence of the world and not at the One who created the world; "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith" (Hebrews 12:2).

There are times when we clearly see God's hand at work. Our eyes become focused on Jesus, His peace fills our life, and the foundation under our feet feels solid and secure. However, it's usually not long before the wind begins to blow, the waves rise up, and we experience that sinking feeling. When this happens (and it will) we must not despair, for this is also part of God's wonderful plan. As we are sinking, He always reaches out His hand as an invitation to draw near and know Him better - to know He will always be there when we cry out "Lord, save me!"

The walk of faith cannot be accomplished in our own strength. With each step we must "put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature" (Colossians 3:5), and "clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 13:14). Every day we must take our eyes off our own ability and the pulls of the world - take our eyes off the wind - and commit to trusting and keeping our eyes focused on Jesus.

Have a Christ Centered Day!

OMG!

Time for a poem or two:
Uh I: A not quite finished yet
prodigal poem. And uh 2: O M G !

COME BACK HOME

If faith is cold
And hope is old
If joy is lost
And friends are gone
Come back home
where you belong

If peace is partial
And life is hard
If truth is lost
And dreams are gone
Come back home
Where you are loved

OMG!

Oh my God,
You know my heart;
You set its beat and
made it start.

Oh my Savior,
You let me believe;
You are the one
Who redeems me.

Oh my God,
You know my soul;
You free me and
Hold me close.

Oh my Strength,
You are my peace;
You are the reason
I breathe.

Oh my God,
You know my mind;
Your living Word fills
my darkness with light.

Oh my Shepherd
You are my song,
You are the righter
of all my wrong.

Oh my Jesus,
You're a perfect friend,
You stay with me
til the very end.

Today the world is broken and lost,
But now and forever You are God!

Hope resides in Christ,
Hope beyond the grave;
Hope abides in His life,

Hope is risen and alive,
Hope watches over faith;
Hope holds on forever,
Hope knows God's name.

Hope's at home in Jesus,
Hope full of peace and joy;
Hope rests in love & trust,
Hope for every girl and boy.

Paid In Full

In the message "He is Risen" we were encouraged to live as though we know Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. Please don't skim past this encouragement because you think all Christians know this simple fact. The challenge is not in knowing the correct answer, but in living consistent with the answer in terms of thankfulness and perseverance - in living a life of hope and power. The following courtroom drama helps us understand the implications of a risen Lord.

The prosecution is aggressively presenting the case against us. There is a parade of witnesses and a multitude of accusations flung our way. Our head hangs low. We sadly realize that no objection can be raised; every charge against us is true. Our heart sinks as the prosecution confidently concludes his case; he has demanded the maximum penalty - death!

Our defense attorney has sat silently through the entire proceeding, but now He rises. His white robe glides across the floor as He moves between us and the Judge. Stretching out His arms, He reveals deep scars on both His wrists. He looks into the eyes of the Judge and says: "Father, while they were in the midst of their crimes, I died so they may live." Without a moment of hesitation, the gavel sounds and the Judge declares: "Not Guilty!"

The verdict in God's courtroom is not dependent on the balance of good versus bad. There is no amount of good deeds and moral living that will ever cancel the charge against us; "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). And there is only one sentence we truly deserve; "For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).

But God has lovingly provided an Advocate, whom He has already approved by His resurrection, and who now stands ready to walk by our side; "We have one who speaks to the Father in our defense - Jesus Christ, the Righteous One" (1 John 2:1). This Advocate has only one requirement in order to present our case.

Romans 10:9 "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Believing in our heart means much more than simply knowing the story. It means a belief which pumps through every part of our body and gives us life! It means understanding that without Him we have no life!!

We need not live in fear! His Easter resurrection means we can "approach the throne of grace with confidence" (Hebrews 4:16), because the verdict has already been determined; "there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). When we believe, we are free to truly live because our debt has been paid in full!
